EXCLUSIVE: Sherlyn Chopra BLAMES star culture in Bollywood for laid-back attitude; says, “In South industry…”

Sherlyn Chopra started her acting career as a leading lady in Bollywood films. She appeared in movies such as Time Pass, Red Swastik and Game. She made her Telugu film debut in A Film by Aravind opposite Richard Rishi. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sherlyn Chopra says Bollywood is slightly laid back due to the star culture when compared to South industry.

When asked about the difference between Bollywood and the South industry, Sherlyn Chopra said, “The schedules there are very systematic. People are punctual; they start work early in the morning and wrap up early at night. Overall, I would say they are very disciplined, very punctual, and very systematic. Here, in Hindi cinema, it’s not quite the same. Of course, they are systematic, but sometimes it takes until 11 AM or even 12 PM to get started. Over there, the schedule starts at 7 AM sharp. I think here, because of the star culture, we like to be slightly laid-back and start work at a relaxed pace.”

Sherlyn Chopra on awards

Speaking about if awards are brought into the industry, Sherlyn said, “No, absolutely not. I remember there were one or two award functions that I couldn’t attend because I wasn’t in Mumbai at the time. So, those awards were kept aside for me. Wow! So, I think different people have had different experiences. And thankfully, I have never received awards that are ‘for sale’ till today.”

Sherlyn started her career in South Indian cinema before transitioning to Bollywood. Some of her early South Indian movies include A Film by Aravind (2005) and University (2002). She also appeared in Tamil and Kannada movies during her initial years, which helped her establish her presence in the industry. In Bollywood, Chopra debuted in Red Swastik, and was a part of movies like Time Pass, and Dil Bole Hadippa!
